After the orangutans, couldn't stomach another 20hrs travel time so flew to the only place the airport went to, Semarang, back on the island of Java. Spent 2 nights there. Kind of a nothing big city... but was excited to accidently stumble upon a Hindu festival!!

Then flew to Makassar, on the island of Sulawesi. Where I've been held up in the hotel for the past 3 days sick as a dog. (But I quit smoking! Again, though, don't comment.) Feeling a bit better today, so bought my bus ticket for tomorrow to head 8hrs north to Tana Toraja. It's got the best rafting in the country - which I want to do. But what I'm really going for is the unique death rituals. Rumors are that the dead get up & walk here! And they hang them up in caves... totally up my alley!! And the whole area is supposed to have stunning scenery.

And it's a remote area, so I'll be incommunicado for awhile again.
