Not too sure what to think 'bout Uganda. It's really, really green & pretty. It's on the edge of the world's 2nd largest jungle. Even the capital Kampala's very green. Nice wide boulevards with big green trees in the middle. (Plus some crazy looking vultures nesting in those trees above the main busy streets!) Plus, lots of parks. And the people are really nice... on the surface. Not making a final judgment... but might classify it as one of those countries it's nice to see but only go on a tour so you don't have to meet the real people. Again, haven't decided for sure yet. But why? Well... had heard from someone living here & a few other travelers that they don't like white folks. But always wanna judge for myself. Brushed off the guy that purposely elbowed me on the street. (Same thing happened in Kenya but the guy managed to hit both me & another Western at the same time.) Been getting more annoyed at the drivers who speed up & drive straight at me while crossing the street. But today... heard one seemingly nice looking Ugandan lady telling a seemingly nice looking white couple to "go home we don't want you here." But the Ugandan did say it in a nice tone~ And why would they hate whites? Know the Kenyans hate the Brits for colonization. Maybe ditto for the Ugandans? But I'm no Brit. Then saw this tv show on "how Obama will help Uganda" & the conclusion... well, no real conclusion, but he HAS TO because America's slaves came from Africa (though technically Ugandan slaves were taken by Arabs to Arab countries). And America still needs to pay back this commodity. They actually debated reparations! Wow! And I actually said wow to all the people watching as I walked away. Tags: Uganda |
