 Last night a group of us were sitting & talking with the hotel owner... he obviously had had a few drinks... & he told us how he got the money to start this hotel... he was laughing so much he could barely tell the story... he used to sell things to American military men in one of the beach cities. He'd tell them 5 Thai Baht & they'd give him 5 US Dollars... he'd tell them 20 Baht, they'd give him 20 Dollars & he'd pocket the extra $19 dollars. He just concentrated on American military because they do that way more often than any other tourist. I've heard variations of this story before... Baht does sound like Bucks if you say it fast... Is it mean? Or, well... no comment....
